This artwork by Margaret Olley achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Melbourne in August 2009. In the Important Australian Art auction, the work Australian sold for AUD 26,400.00 (€ 15,521.08) - well above the upper estimate of AUD 10,000.00. Admittedly, works by Margaret Olley have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Hawkesbury Wildflowers and Pears I, 1973 in November 2021 with an auction result of AUD 159,900.00 (€ 141,667.40).
