Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Australian Proteas And Desert Roses by Margaret Olley was sold in the Important Australian Art Including Selected International Works auction at Sothebys in Melbourne in August 2007. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of AUD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00, the actual price achieved of AUD 52,800.00 (€ 31,573.17) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Margaret Olley have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Hawkesbury Wildflowers and Pears I, 1973 in November 2021 with an auction result of AUD 159,900.00 (€ 141,667.40).
