In October 2013 Phillips in New York held the auction Evening & Day Editions, which included the work Coeurs volants (Fluttering Hearts) by Marcel Duchamp. The »bidding war« ended at USD 11,875.00 (€ 8,735.47), 70% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Marcel Duchamp achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Belle haleine - Eau de voilette in February 2009 with an auction result of EUR 8,913,000.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um 70 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2013 führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Evening & Day Editions durch, in der auch die Arbeit Coeurs volants (Fluttering Hearts) von Marcel Duchamp zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 11.875,00 (€ 8.735,47) und damit 70% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Marcel Duchamp erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Belle haleine - Eau de voilette im Februar 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 8.913.000,00.
