Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Deux Oliviers Et La Mer I by Manolis Calliyannis was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,500.00 – 3,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,375.00 (€ 1,011.48). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Manolis Calliyannis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Greek La Lumiere De La Mer (The Light Of The Sea) in April 2008 with an auction result of GBP 10,000.00 (€ 12,748.59).
