Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2004 Christies in London held the auction THE IRISH SALE, which included the work Cubist composition by Mainie Jellett. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 8,962.50 (€ 13,447.05) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Mainie Jellett have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Pietà in May last year with an auction result of EUR 88,200.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2004 führte Christies in London die Auktion THE IRISH SALE durch, in der auch die Arbeit Cubist composition von Mainie Jellett zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 8.962,50 (€ 13.447,05) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Mainie Jellett auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Pietà im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 88.200,00.
