Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Iqraa bism by Mahmoud Hammad was worth USD 133,000.00 (€ 91,927.01) to a buyer in October 2007. This price was achieved in the auction International Modern and Contemporary Art at Christies in Dubai and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 35,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Mahmoud Hammad; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Lika'a Bnafasaji Asrak bi Khamsat Awkat (Rythme bleu - mauve en 5 temps) sold at auction in October 2014 with the realized price of USD 118,750.00 (€ 94,772.55).
