The »bidding war« ended at GBP 6,250.00 (€ 7,057.53), 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Maggi Hambling have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Cascading Wave in March 2019 with an auction result of GBP 32,500.00 (€ 37,721.77).

Die Arbeit Wave Breaks, May von Maggi Hambling wurde im März 2020 in der Auktion Made in Britain bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 6.250,00 (€ 7.057,53) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Maggi Hambling auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Cascading Wave im März 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 32.500,00 (€ 37.721,77).
