Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Painting No. 14 by Ma Liuming was auctioned at Phillips in London in April 2010, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 25,000.00 – 35,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 22,500.00 (€ 25,893.10). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ma Liuming - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Baby No. 7, which sold at auction in May 2006 for HKD 900,000.00 (€ 90,399.75).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Painting No. 14 von Ma Liuming im April 2010 bei Phillips in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 25.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 22.500,00 (€ 25.893,10) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Ma Liuming mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Baby No. 7 beobachtet, die im Mai 2006 für HKD 900.000,00 (€ 90.399,75) versteigert wurde.
