Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Baby (Rocking Horse) by Ma Liuming was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 150,000.00 – 200,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 100,000.00 (€ 8,945.46). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ma Liuming achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Baby No. 7 in May 2006 with an auction result of HKD 900,000.00 (€ 90,399.75).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Baby (Rocking Horse) von Ma Liuming im Mai 2011 bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 150.000,00 – 200.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 100.000,00 (€ 8.945,46) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ma Liuming erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Baby No. 7 im Mai 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 900.000,00 (€ 90.399,75).
