In September 2015 Sothebys in New York held the auction Fine Classical Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy, which included the work Calligraphy In Clerical Script by Ma Gongyu. The »bidding war« ended at USD 4,000.00 (€ 3,583.59), 60% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Ma Gongyu have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Calligraphy Couplet In Lishu in October 2017 with an auction result of HKD 275,000.00 (€ 30,267.00).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 60 % übertroffen
Im September 2015 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Fine Classical Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy durch, in der auch die Arbeit Calligraphy In Clerical Script von Ma Gongyu zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 4.000,00 (€ 3.583,59) und damit 60% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ma Gongyu auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Calligraphy Couplet In Lishu im Oktober 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 275.000,00 (€ 30.267,00).
