The auction ended at the price of USD 6,000.00 (€ 5,343.78), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Admittedly, works by Ma Gongyu have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Calligraphy Couplet In Lishu in October 2017 with an auction result of HKD 275,000.00 (€ 30,267.00).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Die Arbeit Calligraphy Couplet In Seal Script von Ma Gongyu kam im März 2019 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 6.000,00 (€ 5.343,78) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ma Gongyu auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Calligraphy Couplet In Lishu im Oktober 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 275.000,00 (€ 30.267,00).
