Upper estimate price exceeded by 35 %.
In October 2011 Sothebys in New York held the auction Prints, which included the work Fish (B./K./L./W. 323) by Maurits Cornelis Escher. The »bidding war« ended at USD 16,250.00 (€ 11,651.25), 35% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Maurits Cornelis Escher achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Reptiles (Bool 327) in April last year with an auction result of USD 756,000.00 (€ 717,471.77).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 35 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2011 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Prints durch, in der auch die Arbeit Fish (B./K./L./W. 323) von Maurits Cornelis Escher zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 16.250,00 (€ 11.651,25) und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Maurits Cornelis Escher erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Reptiles (Bool 327) im April letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 756.000,00 (€ 717.471,77).
