Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled by Lygia Pape was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2015, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 93,750.00 (€ 85,273.79). Admittedly, works by Lygia Pape have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Livro noite e dia (Book of Night and Day) in May 2017 with an auction result of USD 430,000.00 (€ 382,698.47).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Untitled von Lygia Pape im Mai 2015 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 100.000,00 – 150.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 93.750,00 (€ 85.273,79) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Lygia Pape auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Livro noite e dia (Book of Night and Day) im Mai 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 430.000,00 (€ 382.698,47).
