Here, the upper estimate of USD 5,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 5,670.00 (€ 4,828.41). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ludwig Bemelmans achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Illustration for 'Madeline and the Bad Hat' ("Pepito carried a bulging sack") in March 2021 with an auction result of USD 302,400.00 (€ 257,515.12).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Sketch for 'Italian Holiday' (Capri Piazza) von Ludwig Bemelmans wurde im März 2021 in der Auktion Madeline and More: The Whimsical World of Ludwig Bemelmans bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 5.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 5.670,00 (€ 4.828,41) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ludwig Bemelmans erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Illustration for 'Madeline and the Bad Hat' ("Pepito carried a bulging sack") im März 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 302.400,00 (€ 257.515,12).
