Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2015 Sothebys in London held the auction Evening Sale, which included the work The Ill-Matched Lovers by Lucas Cranach II. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 150,000.00 – 250,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 161,000.00 (€ 229,320.58) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lucas Cranach II achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of a lady, three-quarter-length, in a green velvet and orange dress and a pearl-embroidered black hat in July 2007 with an auction result of GBP 1,812,000.00 (€ 2,691,238.28).
