Auction result misses estimated price range
In July last year a collector was able to acquire the work An epitaph: The Resurrected Christ with a donor family by Lucas Cranach II for GBP 380,000.00 (€ 453,787.49). This price was achieved in the auction Old Masters Evening Sale at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 450,000.00 – 650,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Lucas Cranach II have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of a lady, three-quarter-length, in a green velvet and orange dress and a pearl-embroidered black hat in July 2007 with an auction result of GBP 1,812,000.00 (€ 2,691,238.28).
