Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Christ As The Man Of Sorrows Together With The Virgin And Saint John by Lucas Cranach II was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January 2016. The price achieved of USD 100,000.00 (€ 92,319.05) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lucas Cranach II achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of a lady, three-quarter-length, in a green velvet and orange dress and a pearl-embroidered black hat in July 2007 with an auction result of GBP 1,812,000.00 (€ 2,691,238.28).
