This price was achieved in the auction Important Old Master Paintings and Sculpture at Sothebys in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 70,000.00 many times over. Admittedly, works by Lucas Cranach II have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of a lady, three-quarter-length, in a green velvet and orange dress and a pearl-embroidered black hat in July 2007 with an auction result of GBP 1,812,000.00 (€ 2,691,238.28).
