Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Conversion Of Saint Paul by Lucas Cranach II was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 120,000.00 – 180,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 133,250.00 (€ 169,295.63) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lucas Cranach II achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of a lady, three-quarter-length, in a green velvet and orange dress and a pearl-embroidered black hat in July 2007 with an auction result of GBP 1,812,000.00 (€ 2,691,238.28).
