Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In December 2009 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master & British Paintings Evening Sale, which included the work Christ As The Man Of Sorrows by Lucas Cranach II. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 145,250.00 (€ 163,847.11), 21% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lucas Cranach II achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of a lady, three-quarter-length, in a green velvet and orange dress and a pearl-embroidered black hat in July 2007 with an auction result of GBP 1,812,000.00 (€ 2,691,238.28).
