Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Second Tournament with the Tapestry of Samson and the Lion (B. 126; Holl. 117) by Lucas Cranach I was sold in the Old Master Prints auction at Sothebys in London in July 2021. It changed hands for a price of GBP 5,670.00 (€ 6,649.25) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lucas Cranach I achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Bocca Della Verità (The Mouth Of Truth) in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 9,333,000.00 (€ 13,231,059.30).

Die Arbeit The Second Tournament with the Tapestry of Samson and the Lion (B. 126; Holl. 117) von Lucas Cranach I wurde im Juli 2021 in der Auktion Old Master Prints bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 5.670,00 (€ 6.649,25) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Lucas Cranach I erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Bocca Della Verità (The Mouth Of Truth) im Juli 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 9.333.000,00 (€ 13.231.059,30).
