The result of GBP 1,000.00 (€ 1,181.88) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lucas Cranach I achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Bocca Della Verità (The Mouth Of Truth) in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 9,333,000.00 (€ 13,231,059.30).

Die Arbeit The Martyrdom of Saint Erasmus von Lucas Cranach I wurde im Dezember 2019 in der Auktion Old Master Prints bei Christies in London versteigert. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 1.000,00 (€ 1.181,88) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Lucas Cranach I erzielen.
