In July 2015 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master & British Paintings Evening Sale, which included the work The Bocca Della Verità (The Mouth Of Truth) by Lucas Cranach I. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 9,333,000.00 (€ 13,231,059.30), 17% above the upper estimate. With this result, The Bocca Della Verità (The Mouth Of Truth) is even the most expensive work of art by Lucas Cranach I that we have observed at auctions so far.
