This artwork by Lucas Cranach II achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2010. In the Old Masters & 19th Century Paintings, Drawings & Watercolours (Evening Sale) auction, the work Lucretia sold for GBP 229,250.00 (€ 265,929.31) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 100,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lucas Cranach II achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of a lady, three-quarter-length, in a green velvet and orange dress and a pearl-embroidered black hat in July 2007 with an auction result of GBP 1,812,000.00 (€ 2,691,238.28).
