Auction result misses estimated price range
In July 2018 a collector was able to acquire the work Portrait of Martin Luther (1483-1546), half-length; and Portrait of Katharina von Bora (1499-1552), half-length by Lucas Cranach I for GBP 248,750.00 (€ 278,903.45). This price was achieved in the auction Old Masters Evening Sale at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 250,000.00 – 350,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lucas Cranach I achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Bocca Della Verità (The Mouth Of Truth) in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 9,333,000.00 (€ 13,231,059.30).
