Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled (Woman in a Gown) by Louise Dahl-Wolfe was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in December 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,268.00 (€ 1,854.46). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Louise Dahl-Wolfe achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nude On Beach, California, 1948 in May 2013 with an auction result of GBP 16,250.00 (€ 18,998.79).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Untitled (Woman in a Gown) von Louise Dahl-Wolfe im Dezember 2020 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 2.268,00 (€ 1.854,46) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Louise Dahl-Wolfe erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Nude On Beach, California, 1948 im Mai 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 16.250,00 (€ 18.998,79).
