Auction result well in line with expectations
The work View Of The Ravine At San Cosimato by Louis Gauffier was sold in the Master Paintings & Sculpture Day Sale auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,125.00 (€ 7,324.44) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Louis Gauffier achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ulisse Scopre Achille Tra Le Figlie Di Licomede in December 2009 with an auction result of EUR 504,750.00.
