Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait of Elizabeth, Lady Webster, later Lady Holland (1771-1845), full-length, in a white dress and feathered hat, with her spaniel, Pierrot, on a chaise-longue, with a guitar by Louis Gauffier was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 120,000.00 – 180,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for Admittedly, works by Louis Gauffier have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Ulisse Scopre Achille Tra Le Figlie Di Licomede in December 2009 with an auction result of EUR 504,750.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Portrait of Elizabeth, Lady Webster, later Lady Holland (1771-1845), full-length, in a white dress and feathered hat, with her spaniel, Pierrot, on a chaise-longue, with a guitar von Louis Gauffier im Oktober 2017 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 120.000,00 – 180.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 118.750,00 (€ 101.948,83) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Louis Gauffier auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Ulisse Scopre Achille Tra Le Figlie Di Licomede im Dezember 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 504.750,00.
