In the Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale auction, the work Portrait Of An Officer, Thought To Be Général Jean-Claude Moreau (1755 -1828), Standing Full Length In Uniform On A Terrace, A View Of Florence Beyond changed hands for GBP 34,850.00 (€ 42,979.73) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Louis Gauffier achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ulisse Scopre Achille Tra Le Figlie Di Licomede in December 2009 with an auction result of EUR 504,750.00.
