In January 2003 Christies in New York held the auction Old Master & 19th Century Drawings including Works on Paper, which included the work Cornelia presenting her two young sons by Louis Gauffier. The »bidding war« ended at USD 10,157.50 (€ 9,458.52), 27% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Louis Gauffier achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ulisse Scopre Achille Tra Le Figlie Di Licomede in December 2009 with an auction result of EUR 504,750.00.
