Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Candy For Dolly by Louis Charles Moeller was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 6,250.00 (€ 4,319.88). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Louis Charles Moeller achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Art Critic in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 60,000.00 (€ 54,575.22).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A Candy For Dolly von Louis Charles Moeller im Oktober 2007 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 7.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 6.250,00 (€ 4.319,88) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Louis Charles Moeller erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Art Critic im Mai 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 60.000,00 (€ 54.575,22).
