In March 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Art, which included the work Ultra Terrestrial by Lorna Simpson. The »bidding war« ended at USD 27,720.00 (€ 23,605.55), 54% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lorna Simpson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Day For Night in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 375,000.00 (€ 321,336.76).

Im März 2021 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Ultra Terrestrial von Lorna Simpson zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 27.720,00 (€ 23.605,55) und damit 54% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Lorna Simpson erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Day For Night im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 375.000,00 (€ 321.336,76).
