In May 2021 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings, which included the work Eternal Sound Of Waves by Liu Mengkuan. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 137,500.00 (€ 14,534.81), 38% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Liu Mengkuan - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Majestic Landscape of Mount Huang, which sold at auction in November 2018 for HKD 325,000.00 (€ 36,681.97).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 38 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2021 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Eternal Sound Of Waves von Liu Mengkuan zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 137.500,00 (€ 14.534,81) und damit 38% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Liu Mengkuan mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Majestic Landscape of Mount Huang beobachtet, die im November 2018 für HKD 325.000,00 (€ 36.681,97) versteigert wurde.
