In February this year Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Dawn of Spring – Chinese Paintings Online, which included the work Enlightment from The Diamond Sutra by Liu Mengkuan. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 69,300.00 (€ 8,327.50), 39% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Liu Mengkuan have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Majestic Landscape of Mount Huang in November 2018 with an auction result of HKD 325,000.00 (€ 36,681.97).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 39 % übertroffen
Im Februar diesen Jahres führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Dawn of Spring – Chinese Paintings Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Enlightment from The Diamond Sutra von Liu Mengkuan zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 69.300,00 (€ 8.327,50) und damit 39% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Liu Mengkuan auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Majestic Landscape of Mount Huang im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 325.000,00 (€ 36.681,97).
