Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A storm on the Ganges by George Francis White was sold in the Travel, Science and Natural History auction at Christies in London in September 2010. The price achieved of GBP 875.00 (€ 1,012.03) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 700.00 – 1,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Francis White achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lieutenant-Colonel George Francis White (1808-1898) in July 2006 with an auction result of GBP 7,800.00 (€ 11,418.29).
