Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In December 2003 Christies in London held the auction British & Continental Watercolours including Original Book, which included the work Old Mosque Near Rajmahal, On The Ganges, Near Patna by George Francis White. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,057.50 (€ 1,497.81), 18% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by George Francis White have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Lieutenant-Colonel George Francis White (1808-1898) in July 2006 with an auction result of GBP 7,800.00 (€ 11,418.29).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Dezember 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion British & Continental Watercolours including Original Book durch, in der auch die Arbeit Old Mosque Near Rajmahal, On The Ganges, Near Patna von George Francis White zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.057,50 (€ 1.497,81) und damit 18% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von George Francis White auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Lieutenant-Colonel George Francis White (1808-1898) im Juli 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 7.800,00 (€ 11.418,29).
