LI JIAN (1748-1799) Manuscript of Poems Draft A set of fifty-two pages Each leaf measures 25.4 x 14.6 cm. (10 x 5 3 ⁄ 4 in.) Dated twenty-fourth day of the eighth month, jiyou year (1789) Six collectors’ seals NOTE: This book was a gift to Wang Jingwei from Li Shangming, son of Hong Kong businessman Li Youquan (1861-1940). Li Shangming was a follower of Wang Jingwei, and was in the Nanjing government in charge of opium control.
Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Li Jian achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in May last year. In the Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online auction, the work Manuscript of Poems Draft sold for HKD 100,800.00 (€ 11,967.12) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 50,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Li Jian - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Boating Alone, which sold at auction in November 2011 for HKD 400,000.00 (€ 38,266.56).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Li Jian erzielte im Mai letzten Jahres bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online wurde die Arbeit Manuscript of Poems Draft für HKD 100.800,00 (€ 11.967,12) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 50.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Li Jian mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Boating Alone beobachtet, die im November 2011 für HKD 400.000,00 (€ 38.266,56) versteigert wurde.
