The »bidding war« ended at GBP 780.00 (€ 1,147.82), 56% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Leonid Baikov; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Two steam boats; The quay at sunset; Crossing the river; Departing from the dock; Mending the boat; and On the banks of the river sold at auction in April 2007 with the realized price of GBP 1,080.00 (€ 1,581.26).
