Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The sun setting over a wood; A view across the valley; Green pastures; The forest edge; Looking towards the wood; and Melting snow by Leonid Baikov was sold in the British, Continental & Russian Pictures & Prints auction at Christies in London in May 2007. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 336.00 (€ 494.45) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Leonid Baikov - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Two steam boats; The quay at sunset; Crossing the river; Departing from the dock; Mending the boat; and On the banks of the river, which sold at auction in April 2007 for GBP 1,080.00 (€ 1,581.26).
