Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Stunt Sunday by Leo Gabin was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in July 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,750.00 (€ 1,572.33). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Leo Gabin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work French Braid Tutorial in September 2014 with an auction result of USD 47,500.00 (€ 37,614.82).
