Auction result well in line with expectations
The work JOSEPH CORNELL: or Twelve Needles Dancing on the Point of an Angel by Lee Miller was sold in the Photographs auction at Christies in New York in October 2000. The price achieved of USD 25,850.00 (€ 30,461.94) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lee Miller achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nude in April 2021 with an auction result of USD 504,000.00 (€ 418,952.62).

Die Arbeit JOSEPH CORNELL: or Twelve Needles Dancing on the Point of an Angel von Lee Miller wurde im Oktober 2000 in der Auktion Photographs bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 25.850,00 (€ 30.461,94) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Lee Miller erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Nude im April 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 504.000,00 (€ 418.952,62).
