Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2012 Sothebys in Toronto held the auction Important Canadian Art, which included the work Mountain Sketch Xci (Mountain On The Athabasca River) by Lawren Stewart Harris. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of CAD 400,000.00 – 600,000.00, the actual price achieved of CAD 433,750.00 (€ 338,959.28) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Lawren Stewart Harris - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Mountain Sketch LXIII, which sold at auction in November last year for USD 882,000.00 (€ 854,402.79).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2012 führte Sothebys in Toronto die Auktion Important Canadian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Mountain Sketch Xci (Mountain On The Athabasca River) von Lawren Stewart Harris zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von CAD 400.000,00 – 600.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von CAD 433.750,00 (€ 338.959,28) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Lawren Stewart Harris mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Mountain Sketch LXIII beobachtet, die im November letzten Jahres für USD 882.000,00 (€ 854.402,79) versteigert wurde.
