Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Steps of the Castillo, Chichén Itzá, 1932 by Laura Gilpin was auctioned at Christies in New York in April last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 15,120.00 (€ 14,349.44) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by Laura Gilpin have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in July 2020 the work 'Ranchos Church' was auctioned for USD 31,250.00 (€ 26,541.53).

Die Arbeit Steps of the Castillo, Chichén Itzá, 1932 von Laura Gilpin kam im April letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 15.120,00 (€ 14.349,44) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Andere Arbeiten von Laura Gilpin konnten bereits höhere Auktionspreise erzielen, so wurde im Juli 2020 die Arbeit 'Ranchos Church' für USD 31.250,00 (€ 26.541,53) versteigert.
