Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In September 2001 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings, which included the work Fishing boats off Procida by Gioacchino La Pira. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 3,055.00 (€ 4,932.52). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gioacchino La Pira - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Bay of Naples; and Vesuvius erupting, which sold at auction in April 2001 for GBP 8,225.00 (€ 13,259.73).
