Three oban tate-e bijinga prints: the first of two courtesans, from the series Tosei zokui (Modern Dyed Cotton Kimono), censor's seal kiwame, signed Eizan hitsu, 37.4cm x 25.5cm (14 11/16in x 10in); the second of a woman standing next to a lacqured tabako-bon (a tobacco tray), from the series Furyu bijin zoroi (A Collections of Elegant Beauties), published by Maruya Jinpachi, censor's seal kiwame, signed Kikukawa Eizan hitsu, 39cm x 26.5cm (15 3/8in x 10 7/16in); the third of Utsusemi, from the series Genji juniko (12 Seasons of Genji), published by Wakasaya Yoichi, censor's seal kiwame, signed Kikukawa Eizan hitsu; 37.7cm x 25cm (14 13/16in x 9 13/16in); all mounted on card. Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Unknown by Kikukawa Eizan was auctioned at Bonhams in London in May this year. The price achieved of GBP 1,024.00 (€ 1,191.43) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Admittedly, works by Kikukawa Eizan have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Haru no raku (Spring pleasures) in March 2007 with an auction result of USD 13,200.00 (€ 9,869.90).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Unknown von Kikukawa Eizan kam im Mai diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 1.024,00 (€ 1.191,43) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Kikukawa Eizan auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Haru no raku (Spring pleasures) im März 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 13.200,00 (€ 9.869,90).
