Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Yabuhara: The Ink-stone Spring at Torii Pass (Yabuhara, Torii toge suzuri no shimizu) by Keisai Eisen was sold in the Japanese Woodblock Prints | Including the Sokolov Collection auction at Sothebys in London in May 2021. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 1,260.00 (€ 1,466.04). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Keisai Eisen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Courtesan in September 2004 with an auction result of USD 23,900.00 (€ 19,247.81).
