It achieved a price of GBP 2,016.00 (€ 2,404.67), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 34%. Admittedly, works by Keisai Eisen have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Courtesan in September 2004 with an auction result of USD 23,900.00 (€ 19,247.81).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 34 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Omiya Station: Distant View of Mount Fuji (Omiya shuku, Fuji enkei) von Keisai Eisen wurde im Dezember 2021 in der Auktion Fine Japanese Prints bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 2.016,00 (€ 2.404,67) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 34%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Keisai Eisen auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Courtesan im September 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 23.900,00 (€ 19.247,81).
