Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Montmartre (Matin) by Kees van Dongen was sold in the Modern & Contemporary Day Auction auction at Sothebys in London in March last year. The price achieved of GBP 163,800.00 (€ 194,203.34) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 120,000.00 – 180,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kees van Dongen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work La Quiétude in October this year with an auction result of GBP 10,775,000.00 (€ 12,372,693.51).
