In March last year Bonhams in New York held the auction Japanese and Korean Art, which included the work Edo period (1615-1868), circa 1780s by Katsukawa Shunshō. The »bidding war« ended at USD 3,825.00 (€ 3,448.12), 28% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Katsukawa Shunshō achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Beauty writing a letter, ca. 1789-92 in September 2006 with an auction result of USD 72,000.00 (€ 56,751.00).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 28 % übertroffen
Im März letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in New York die Auktion Japanese and Korean Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Edo period (1615-1868), circa 1780s von Katsukawa Shunshō zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 3.825,00 (€ 3.448,12) und damit 28% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Katsukawa Shunshō erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Beauty writing a letter, ca. 1789-92 im September 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 72.000,00 (€ 56.751,00).
