The work Harper’S Pictorial History Of The Civil War (Annotated) by Kara Walker was sold in the Prints and Multiples auction at Christies in New York in October last year. The »bidding war« ended at USD 151,200.00 (€ 152,204.55), 26% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Kara Walker - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Negress Notes, which sold at auction in May last year for USD 529,200.00 (€ 493,150.68).

Die Arbeit Harper’S Pictorial History Of The Civil War (Annotated) von Kara Walker wurde im Oktober letzten Jahres in der Auktion Prints and Multiples bei Christies in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 151.200,00 (€ 152.204,55) und damit 26% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Kara Walker mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Negress Notes beobachtet, die im Mai letzten Jahres für USD 529.200,00 (€ 493.150,68) versteigert wurde.
